Male reproductive cells, also referred to as the male gametes. Human sperm contain 23 single chromosomes. This genetic material is contained in the head of the sperm, which also has a mid section, and a tail that propels them in a swimming motion. The semen produced by the male reproductive tract, as a medium for sperm, typically contains over 100 million sperm cells, all of which have but one purpose: to fertilise the single available egg.
