Circular movement about an axis or a point. If the point or axis is inside the boundaries of the object, then we say that it is spinning. If it's outside, we refer to an orbit. The Earth, like many celestial bodies, does both, spinning on its own axis, which we notice as the coming of day and night, and orbiting the Sun, which we notice as the passing years.
