To make an object or image appear larger than its actual size. Magnification enables us to closely observe things that are too small or too far away to see with the naked eye. By magnifying a drop of blood 100 times, we can make out individual blood cells. And if we magnify it six hundred times, we can see each red blood cell's distinctive disc shape.
